First session

TRENCH: DECAY Beginner Guide: Start with Your Squad

Your first campaign is a chance to learn the cooperative rhythm, not a demand for a perfect weapon collection. Start with a familiar gun and a squad you can follow. Keep the opening tutorial separate from the full campaign so you do not spend the introduction looking for menus that have not appeared yet.

A useful first session Reach the main interface, join the squad's campaign, and leave with one specific improvement you want to make on the next attempt.

Build a manageable openingEntry, equipment, cooperation, and the next attempt answer different parts of getting started.

  1. Finish the opening extraction

You have launched the experience but still see tutorial prompts.

    • Follow the introduction to its first extraction point, then continue until the main interface appears.
    • Do not abandon the active prompt to search for the Supply Codes menu; that is a later interface task.
  2. Choose equipment you can handle

You are preparing for a first full squad attempt.

    • Use a gun whose aiming and reload pattern you understand before pursuing an unfamiliar specialist.
    • If turning feels awkward, make Sensitivity manageable before treating a new weapon purchase as the answer.
  3. Move with the group

The squad is fighting through the campaign.

    • Stay close enough to share the encounter rather than sprinting toward the next fight alone.
    • Give the group time to prepare before a push. A cooperative run is easier to follow when players are working on the same encounter.
Learn before collecting

A new item is a collection goal. A manageable campaign is a play goal. Keep the two separate while learning TRENCH: DECAY.

& Supply RewardsTRENCH: DECAY Codes

The developer lists 5MVISITS for 800 Medals. Treat the bonus as help toward a purchase you already want, rather than a reason to spend the whole balance. The source check describes the game-page listing; it does not claim a personal redemption on every account.

Editorial recommendations

TRENCH: DECAY Tier List: Weapons for Squad Campaigns

For general campaign flexibility, start with the BAR before choosing a more committed specialist. This TRENCH: DECAY shortlist weighs handling, the job each item performs, and the drawback your squad must accommodate. Grades express editorial priorities, not official ranks or a measured DPS table.

General campaign scopeChoose the weapon role you can support

This ordering favors adaptable campaign use. A heavy gun or shield can be better for a particular squad job even when it sits below the flexible rifle here.

  • Combat role and range
  • Handling and sustained pressure
  • Perk context
  • Drawbacks and squad fit
GradeWeaponUseful combat traitsChoose it when
S
M1918 BARFlexible automatic rifle
Useful combat traits
  • Medium-weight rifle suited to crowds and single targets.
  • 30-round magazine is smaller than heavy-gun magazines.
Choose it when

Choose it for varied TRENCH: DECAY encounters when you want one adaptable gun; preserve a reload window instead of firing without a plan.

A
MG-08Heavy sustained fire
Useful combat traits
  • 100-round magazine supports a longer firing commitment.
  • Heavy handling and a slow reload shape its use.
Choose it when

Bring it when your squad can support a sustained-fire position. If the campaign demands constant movement, prioritize handling over magazine size.

B
AegisStamina-based blocking
Useful combat traits
  • Redirects most incoming damage into stamina drain.
  • Slower movement and no heavy attack distinguish the role.
Choose it when

Choose it for a defensive contribution in TRENCH: DECAY. Leave recovery space before stamina empties instead of expecting uninterrupted protection.

C
The Hand CannonSingle-shot explosive sidearm
Useful combat traits
  • Explosive shot is a specialist tool rather than repeated pistol fire.
  • Manual reload and self-blast risk demand deliberate spacing.
Choose it when

Use it when you have room for the blast and the reload. For a dependable everyday firearm role, start with a gun whose handling you already manage.

Recommendations favor general campaign flexibility rather than an official damage ranking.

Your support role

TRENCH: DECAY Classes: Which Squad Job Should You Choose?

At Level 5, normal TRENCH: DECAY classes commonly cost 150 Medals. Spend that on a job you want to perform: recovery, supplies, or fortifications. Enlisted is already available, so learning the campaign does not require buying every role before your first useful run.

Choose the problem you want to handle

Think about the next sessions you intend to play. The class should give your group a useful contribution that you actually enjoy.

Teammates keep going down

  • Consider Medic for healing, reviving, and Decay cleansing. Stay close enough to reach the group instead of chasing an isolated target.
  • Recovery gives capable teammates another chance to contribute; it does not make every dangerous push safe.

You enjoy managing equipment

  • Consider Quartermaster for ammunition, weapons, inventory support, and trait work. Keep supplies attached to the guns your squad intends to use.
  • Supply support and healing are distinct jobs. Choose the one you want to own rather than treating the two classes as duplicates.

The session needs fortifications

  • Consider Engineer when structures and maintaining a position matter. Cheaper, tougher, faster-built structures serve that plan.
  • Choose a different role when the group mainly needs recovery or ammunition; building advantages do not replace those actions.

Progress through the role's actual actions

  • Medic gains class progress from healing or reviving allies; Engineer from building structures; Quartermaster from collecting mission items.
  • Spend class skill points under CLASSES in the lobby. Your preferred mission actions and your progression plan should support the same role.
  • Infiltrator and The Decayed are special-access exceptions. Keep them out of a normal Level 5 and 150-Medal purchase assumption.
  • For your next class, preserve the role you already enjoy if it still serves the squad. A new specialization is a choice, not a compulsory replacement.
Field find to equipment goal

TRENCH: DECAY Arsenal: How Do Discovered Weapons Become Purchases?

A gun found during a TRENCH: DECAY mission and a gun available for later purchase are different stages. The weapon-unlock walkthrough describes finding it in the field, extracting with it, and then purchasing the unlocked entry with Medals. Keep survival in the plan before spending toward the gun.

Find it, bring it back, then spend

Each stage resolves a different part of the acquisition. Owning Medals alone does not replace the discovery step in this route.

  1. 1

Find the weapon during the mission

Pick up the actual gun rather than assuming that seeing its name in a journal is the unlock. Keep it attached to the run you intend to finish. The campaign still needs a loadout you can handle while pursuing that goal.

First stageThe target weapon is part of your current run, rather than only a future shopping idea.
  2. 2

    Extract with the discovery

Bring the weapon through extraction. I would protect a manageable finish over detouring into another unfamiliar encounter after finding the gun you wanted. A weapon goal is easier to finish if you keep its final stage focused on extraction.

Useful resultThe discovered weapon can become available for the later purchase described in the walkthrough.
  3. 3

    Buy the individual offer deliberately

Use Medals for the unlocked purchase when it fits your equipment budget. Keep the individual price separate from a bundle that also includes cosmetics. A wider collection set and the single gun can be different spending goals.

Purchase decisionYou have chosen whether the gun alone or a broader set serves the next sessions you want to play.

TRENCH: DECAY Campaigns: How Should You Read the Bunker Map?

The bunker map belongs to your squad's TRENCH: DECAY run. Read its path marks and faction symbols before voting, then keep the choice separate from the live world map. A local route is preparation for your next stage; the global map tracks a war shared across servers.

Map informationWhen it appearsWhat it tells youUseful choiceMore detail

Possible and completed paths

Dotted and solid lines answer different route questions.

In the campaignRead the bunker map for the current run.
Dotted lineShows the paths that may be taken next.
Solid red lineShows the route already taken.
Player priorityLook forward at the available paths instead of treating the red route as an instruction to replay an earlier stage.

The next-stage vote

A branch gives the squad a choice; a single route does not produce the same prompt.

Bunker conditionSeveral possible paths produce a vote.
Squad actionDiscuss the destination before selecting the next route.
ExceptionThe Torn Map modifier randomizes the vote. A modifier can change the route decision rather than merely increase a reward.

Faction symbol beside a stage

The symbol identifies the faction in that bunker.

Map positionLook beside the stage entry.
Named groupsThe Fourth Coalition, The Nomads, or The Oathkeepers can mark the bunker faction.
PreparationUse the faction information to discuss what the squad needs. Do not confuse meeting a world faction with joining a player Division.
An earned spending plan

TRENCH: DECAY Rewards: Can You Buy a Class and Keep a Reserve?

Use your actual TRENCH: DECAY Medal balance, then protect the amount you want to keep before choosing an optional purchase. The numbers below are illustrative budgets, not a balance taken from an account. A normal class and a wider Warbond belong to different spending decisions.

A normal class fits this example

Subtract the reserve first. The 300 spendable Medals cover a 150-Medal class and leave another 150 outside the protected amount. Normal Level 5 access is still a separate condition; affordable arithmetic does not grant the class by itself.

Illustrative inputs
  • Medal balanceExample starting balance, not collected account data.800
  • Protected reserveYour chosen amount to keep.500
  • Normal class costThe documented standard class purchase; special classes differ.150
After one purchase
650 Medals remain 500 reserve protected

The example buys one class. It does not recommend buying two roles just because the spendable amount could cover both.

A bundle can be outside the same budget

Merciless Munitions is listed at 3,500 Medals for a wider set including the Lewis Gun. That is a bundle price, not the individual gun's universal cost.

  • With an 800-Medal example balance, do not count the wider set as affordable or assume another unearned reward will cover it.
  • If only the gun interests you, compare field discovery and the individual offer instead of saving automatically for every item in the set.
Movement and comfort

TRENCH: DECAY Controls: Why Does Sliding or Aiming Feel Wrong?

Start with the specific TRENCH: DECAY symptom. A slide that never begins, a dodge that is not unlocked, an overshooting crosshair, and a dark screen are different problems. Fix the condition or preference behind that problem before replacing your entire setup.

The slide does not begin

You press the slide input without getting the running slide you expected.

Condition to checkThe action starts while running; it is separate from the class-perk dodge.

Use the slide condition
Run, then use C or the controller Right Stick. V is the alternative keyboard input described for sliding.
Keep the action distinct
Do not treat double-tapping a direction as the slide input. Learn the running action before relying on it during a pressured fight.

A double-tap does not produce dodge

You expect a movement action that is not available or use the forward direction.

Condition to checkDodge needs the class perk and does not go forward.

Check the class requirement
Unlock the perk before expecting its action. After access, double-tap A, D, or S; controller movement uses repeated left-stick input.
Use a supported direction
Choose sideways or backward movement. Repeating forward input will not create a forward dodge.

Aim overshoots or the scene is hard to read

The target keeps slipping past your aim, or a dark passage hides the shapes you need to follow.

Condition to checkSensitivity and display comfort are different Preferences questions.

For aim overshoot
Try reducing Sensitivity; if turning instead feels too slow, increase it gradually. Keep the other options stable while choosing a manageable turn.
For a dark scene
Try Brightness or Gamma individually. If bright areas lose detail, reduce that change rather than raising both indefinitely.
Keep automation separate
Aim Assist and Auto Shoot are distinct TRENCH: DECAY options. Adjust aiming help separately from firing behavior so the change remains understandable.
Useful distinctions

TRENCH: DECAY Wiki Questions

Is this the developer's official wiki?

No. This is an independent player resource. Roblox and studio rook. provide the game and official services. The site explains mechanics and publishes its own recommendations; its grades are not developer ranks. Use the official experience and community destinations for announcements or support.

Is a Major Order the same as my campaign chapter?

No. TRENCH: DECAY Major Orders and the live world map connect players across servers. A chapter belongs to your local run and increases enemy health and newly found weapon power. Keep the community objective separate from the immediate equipment and route decision your squad faces.

Does a new article date identify a new game patch?

An article date marks publication or revision here. A patch needs its own game announcement and release context. The update guide separates the advertised version from the earlier Into The Deep change, while a code review date identifies when the developer listing was checked.

Do I need paid equipment before starting?

The TRENCH: DECAY developer says weapons, gamepasses, and cosmetics can be unlocked through free play. Individual items still have their own requirements. Start with a manageable squad and familiar equipment, then choose the earned role or weapon goal you actually want.

Does the Medal calculator predict crate outcomes?

No. It divides the balance left after your reserve by the purchase cost you enter. It does not infer a rare result, weapon perk, or future earning rate. Count a whole bundle as one purchase when using its full price, and keep the calculation separate from its contents.
